Exclusive Adventure in Malilangwe Wildlife Reserve

Luxury safari in Malilangwe Wildlife Reserve amidst the scenic baobab trees of Zimbabwe

Introduction

Translated as ‘cry of the leopard,’ the 130,000 acre private Malilangwe Wildlife Reserve is a remote wilderness area of remarkable beauty bordering Gonarezhou National Park in south eastern Zimbabwe.  Majestic scenery is typified by rugged sandstone hills, soaring rocky outcrops, mopane forests and iconic baobab trees.  Home to big cats, including leopards, cheetah and black maned lions, Malilangwe also has a healthy population of endangered black and white rhino in addition to large herds of elephants, African wild dogs and an abundance of bird life. Enjoy exclusive access to the reserve on thrilling game drives or take a sunset boat cruise to spot wildlife on the shore. This area is of great historic interest:  you can learn about the San Bushmen while visiting ancient rock art sites or join a community tour for insights into local life and the Shangaan culture.

Best For

A true wilderness experience in remote Zimbabwe with endless opportunities for wildlife viewing and for discovering local culture and rock art of the San Bushmen, the original hunter-gatherers of southern Africa.

When to visit

Game viewing is excellent at any time, but generally considered optimal in the winter months from April to October, with clear sunny days and average temperatures of 15-24 °C (59-75 °F.) In the wetter summer months from November to March you will find a lush green landscape as short thunderstorms drench the plains and temperatures reach up to 32 °C (90 °F). This is birthing season and the best time to see baby animals, as well as migratory birds.

Tribal Inspiration

Perched high on a sandstone ridge, Singita Pamushana Lodge boasts picturesque views of giant boulders and the sparkling water of Malilangwe Lake. Taking inspiration from the rich tribal history of the region, its memorable design features elaborate stonework, thatch and bold geometric patterns. Eight stylish suites each have a private plunge pool, while expansive decks and a clifftop fire pit provide a very real sense of connection to nature.

Contemporary African Villa

An exclusive use villa perched on a hilltop adjacent to Pamushana Lodge, Singita Malilangwe House has five generous bedrooms and atmospheric communal areas, perfect for a family or small group of friends searching for a more personalized safari experience. Panoramic views and the chance to spot wildlife by the lake while perched on the edge of the large infinity pool is a highlight. The villa comes with private chef, host, game viewing vehicle and dedicated field guide.
