Introduction

This truly extraordinary safari experience starts in vibrant Cape Town where you can explore the buzzing arts scene, ride the cable car to Table Mountain and visit the colorful Bo-Kaap District. Next up is a luxurious mind, body, and spirit experience in the beautiful Cape Winelands region for three days of fresh mountain air, stunning scenery and the finest food and wine. From here we journey to South Africa’s most exclusive private game reserve, Sabi Sand where you can expect regular sightings of the Big Five on daily game drives, against a backdrop of quintessential savanna scenery.

We then fly to remote Malilangwe Wildlife Reserve in Zimbabwe, home to big cats, including leopards and black-maned lions, as well as rhinos and large herds of elephants. Day 1

Cape Town | Art Tour | Bo-Kaap Historic District

Fly into Cape Town where you will be transferred by luxury vehicle to The Silo Hotel, situated at the famed Victoria & Alfred Waterfront and widely recognised as one of the best art hotels in the world. Learn more as you join a private art tour to discover the vibrant art scene of South Africa and visit the famous Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa which is situated below the hotel. In the afternoon join Greg for a 20-minute walk to visit the historic Bo-Kaap District, where brightly coloured houses are set along steep cobblestone streets. This is the perfect place to learn all about the rich heritage of the Cape Malay people and sample an aromatic Cape Malay Curry.

Day 2

Robben Island | Cable Car

Catch a boat to Robben Island, a UNESCO world heritage site and home to the infamous prison where Nelson Mandela spent 18 years incarcerated. In the afternoon ascend to the top of Table Mountain by Cable Car, enjoying spectacular views. Then embark on some sightseeing in Cape Town or perhaps take care of any jetlag symptoms with a signature pampering treatment in the state-of-the-art Silo Spa.

Day 3

Cape Point | Boulders Beach | African Penguins

Enjoy a David Attenborough moment as you visit a colony of meerkats who are habituated to people and happy to be observed. Arriving early in the morning you can watch as these fascinating animals emerge from their burrows to groom themselves and each other in the early morning sun. Meerkats are famed for their gregarious nature and playful antics and this is an experience that you will cherish forever. In the afternoon there is the exhilarating option to head out on a horseback safari, where you can ride alongside antelope, buffalo, zebra and giraffe. Or take it easier as you climb into an open-air vehicle for a late afternoon safari, enjoying the sunset over the savanna ahead of a special feast at the lodge to mark your final night in the Kalahari.

Day 4 - 6

Cape Winelands | Wining & Dining | Exploring

After breakfast at the hotel, you will be transferred by private vehicle to the famed Winelands of the Cape, a renowned food and wine destination. Your accommodation is at Babylonstoren – one of the oldest Cape Dutch farms surrounded by a scenic mountain range. This is the perfect place to escape the world and reconnect with nature where you can walk, cycle, swim or just enjoy the time to be, replenishing your body with healthy food. Day 7

Babylonstoren | Sabi Sand | Game Drive

Transfer by luxury private vehicle to Cape Town International Airport for your charter flight to Skukuza Airport, inside Kruger National Park. You will be met by a guide and tracker in an open-air vehicle and transferred to Sabi Sand Private Reserve. Your accommodation is in luxury villas that meld into timeless riverscape where you can watch animals passing by from the comfort of your private deck. Late in the afternoon climb into your private open-air vehicle for your first game drive, stopping for sundowners in a scenic location.

Day 8

Game Drive | Big Five

Rise at dawn for your early morning game drive and the opportunity to see Africa’s iconic Big Five (elephant, lion, leopard, rhino and cape buffalo) which are frequently seen here in Lion Sands Private concession. This area is also renowned for sightings of the generally elusive leopard and Greg will be keeping a keen look out. Unlike national parks, vehicles in private reserves can go off road, ensuring up close encounters with a magnificent array of wildlife. And with only 16 vehicles allowed in the concession at any one time you are guaranteed an exclusive safari experience. Enjoy coffee and refreshments in the wilderness before returning for a leisurely lunch. Relax by the pool and soak up the savanna views while spotting wildlife by the river ahead of your late afternoon game drive.

Day 9

Game Drive | Community Tour

Rise early for a game drive, or head out with Greg and a local tracker for a guided bush walk. Being on foot in the wilderness gives you the chance to truly immerse yourself in the
beauty of the reserve and to discover its flora and fauna. In the afternoon learn about local village life with a community tour to a local Shangaan village (proceeds go to development projects) where you can learn about local traditional medicine and buy handicrafts. Your afternoon game drive includes a scenic sundowner stop before returning to the lodge for an al fresco dinner under the stars.

Day 10

Game Drive | Spa | Wine Tasting

Between thrilling morning and evening game drives, relax by the pool, indulge in a spa treatment or work out in the gym (with evocative bush views of course.) Or you may be just as happy watching wildlife by the river from the comfort of your private suite which has its own deck and pool. The wine cellar – filled with carefully selected premium Cape labels is another highlight so you may like to enjoy some wine tasting ahead of a boma feast to mark your final evening in South Africa.

Day 11

Sabi Sand | Malilangwe Wildlife Reserve | Sunset Cruise

Depart Lions Sands as you return to Skukuza Airport for your short flight to Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport to clear immigration and customs for your onward flight to south eastern Zimbabwe. Landing at Buffalo Range International Airport, you will be transferred to your luxury accommodation in Malilangwe Wildlife Reserve in a closed
air-conditioned vehicle – transfer time approximately one hour. Alternatively, depending on your choice of aircraft you could fly the 5-minute hop to Lonestar Airfield (please note this is not possible in a jet aircraft.) Enjoy the panoramic views from the lodge which is perched high on a hill, then gently immerse yourself in the timeless scenery on a sunset cruise with the opportunity to observe wildlife along the side of the river.

Big Cat Game Drive | Wine Tasting | Village Visit

Rise early for your first game drive amidst the scenic landscape of Malilangwe Wildlife Reserve. Translating as ‘Cry of the leopard,’ this is Big Cat country and Greg will be tracking lions, leopards and cheetah, guaranteeing fabulous photographic opportunities. After an exhilarating morning game drive, spend the afternoon at leisure enjoying all the facilities of your luxury villa-style accommodation. In the afternoon, visit a colourful local village to gain valuable insight into local life and the Shangaan culture. This is a great opportunity to see community development projects in action. Returning to the lodge, enjoy an informal cooking class with the chef, or indulge in wine tasting with a seasoned sommelier ahead of a gourmet dinner paired with your choice of wines.

San Bushmen Rock Art | Night Sounds Safari

The Malilangwe region is of great historic interest. Learn all about the San Bushmen - the original hunter-gatherers of southern Africa, on a hike to visit 2000-year-old rock art sites. Day 14

Rhino Spotting | Bush Picnic | Sunset Safari Cruise

Head out into the wilderness for your last game drive in Zimbabwe, with plenty of opportunity to see endangered black and white rhino, large herds of elephants and an abundance of bird life. Indulge in a gourmet picnic served under the shade of the baobab trees. Late in the afternoon board a boat for an enchanting sunset cruise accompanied by cocktails and canapes.
