Flagship and its partners in Africa are guided by a single minded objective : to preserve and protect vast areas of African wilderness for future generations. We hope to navigate this current global health crisis together without compromising the vital conservation work that protects these areas and supports neighbouring communities. We have great empathy for the challenges facing our guests, as well as our staff, wanting to ensure their health  and safety, and that  of their loved ones. To this end we are strictly adhering to the directives  of leading health  authorities, including the World Health Organization and can assure you that appropriate protocols are in place at all our lodges and camps. These include daily briefings with all members of staff, careful health monitoring, stringent hygiene measures and a dedicated emergency evacuation plan.


1. Revised Booking Terms & Conditions

Our  flexible booking  conditions  allow guests to plan and book their expedition, with the option of changing travel plans later if necessary. Visit our website for the latest revised terms


2. Reservation Management Prior to Departure

All arrivals to South Africa will be required to present a valid certificate of a negative COVID-19 test, obtained not more than 72 hours (3 days) before the date of travel. Failure to present proof of a negative test  will require the traveler to quarantine at their own cost. All traveler will be screened on arrival and anyone presenting symptoms will be  required  to remain  in quarantine until a repeat COVID-19 test  is conducted.


3. General Hygiene
  • Hand wash and soap dispenser stations throughout lodge areas
  • Hand sanitiser in all lodges and bathrooms
  • Guest Suites sterilised before check in and daily
  • Extra cleaning protocols in suites with focus on high contact areas and items
  • Fitness and wellness areas cleaned more regularly, with special attention to high contact areas
  • All lodge vehicles extensively sanitised between transfers, tours and game drives


4. Front of House Staff and Guest Interaction
  • Regular health screenings for all staff
  • Dedicated Health and Safety Officer at each lodge whose responsibility is the wellbeing of each guest, as well as the correct compliance and implementation of safety standards
  • Our working environment is within a highly protected “safety bubble”


5. On Site Incident Response

All of our properties have strict protocols in place in the event of a guest falling ill or displaying symptoms of COVID-19 while at the lodge. These protocols include isolation in guest suites, access to the onsite medical officer and incident management team, and emergency Medivac airlifts to the nearest pre-approved medical facility for treatment, should the need arise.


6. Dining Protocols
  • Our kitchen is staffed by well equipped, highly trained personnel who utilise international best practices in sanitisation and quality control
  • All staff provided with relevant PPE (Personal Protection Equipment refers to gloves, masks, face shields, aprons, protective suits and shoe covers)
  • Implementation of global food safety policy
  • We will continue sourcing organic produce wherever possible
  • There will be greater flexibility for seating to ensure safe physical distancing between diners
  • Greater flexibility and focus on catering for dietary preferences
  • Immune boosting drinks are provided
